Chorazin

After our buffet breakfast this morning, we hopped on our bus and took off for our first stop - Chorazin. We have a great Israeli tour guide who was giving us history and facts all along the way. After a good drive, we unloaded and sat down for about a 90 minute teaching (try that Pastor Jerry!) where Kay Arthur gave us an overview of the Old Testament as a basis for all of our travels the next two weeks. It was fantastic.

The one thing I took in about Chorazin is from Matthew 11 where it says in verses 12-13, "Then He [speaking of Jesus] began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles were done, because they did not repent. 'Woe to you Chorazin! Woe to you Bethsaida! For if the miracles had occured in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.'"

First off - it was astounding to consider we were standing in a place where Jesus did any of His miracles. And secondly - that even in the light of the many miracles - people had such hardened hearts they did not repent of their sins and accept Him as the Messiah.

We have many people who we witness to who do not respond to the gospel message but it is difficult to imagine a heart so hard that it will not respond to miracle after miracle. Really though we are all that way. That's why it takes a miracle of being born again to be saved.

We walked around and our guide explained various ruins. One was a Jewish Synagogue which still had a 'seat of Moses' where the religious leaders would sit. Also, when a son would be brought in to be circumcised, a man standing up for him would sit in this place of honor.

More Coming ...
